October 4th, update:

Latest update…. they said it would happen and I believe it has ?

They said in the beginning the weight loss would be fast and then slow down in the third week. I notice on the scales it was only 200gr difference to last week!

Well I suppose seeing as this was expected there’s no point holding our heads down in shame. It’s not the best feeling but we’ll persevere and look forward to what next week brings.

A positive note, I managed to run this week. A whole one minute and 35 seconds per day! Hey it’s better than hobbling around! But in all seriousness the pain from my foot fracture hasn’t completely healed yet so I have an appointment with the physiotherapist soon. Let’s see what they make of it.

I’d like to thank you all for the donations (they go to the endParalysis foundation) so far. Esp. Damien Fournier who has vowed to donate euros for each kg I lose, very gracious of him.

That’s all for this week folks, better news next week.

In fact if all else fails, I could get a saw and just saw off my left leg, the foot’s not too good anyway and I believe there may be a good 12-16 kg weight loss right there…

September 24th, update:

Ok folks… So it seems to be working. The scales don’t lie! I’ve been told some additional information regarding the diet. So the emphasis on protein and vegetables after noon is good, but apparently I was not getting any Omega oils, which are fundamental and your body cannot distill them from other nutriets… you have to take them yourself. So the advice was to include 10 pine nut seeds per meal. So again, clean carbs (tef and almond milk) before 10 am, and the lunch and dinner meals I detailed earlier after that. It seems to be working. The scales read 87.8 so 1.2 kg lost this week. Lets see what next week brings,

So all in all I think we are on the right track! Thanks for your support and keep your donations coming! No matter how small, we make a tiny little difference in these peoples lives or we make none.

September 17th, update:

Well folks, the challenge is going well until now! Thank you for your support! 89 kg is our starting weight. My my, Mr. Chubby best get a move on! The 6 days diet was difficult in the beginning. I could muster discipline for 5 says, but when Saturday came and I saw a picture of some delicious omnomnom I couldn’t resist. So for a start 5 days a week diet was a good attempt I think. Got to stay positive.

Exercise: This was tougher, I still have a limp because of the foot fracture so running is out of the question. I tried, but it lasted maybe 15 seconds after which I became a limping exhibition which attracted noticeable interest in the gym. So biking was the salvation. I managed 3 days biking this week. 15 min, 20 min, 20 min. Wasn’t so much exhaustion but more physical discomfort in my left leg (with the break). Next week I will try 30, 30, 30. Dips (own weight 4×10) wasn’t possible I could manage 10,10,7,6. Palms-out pullups were ok with 15kg counter weight at 4×5, not massive amounts surely but hey, we’re lifting Mr. Chubby here so good for a first try. Pushups were a no go. I managed about 8 in total! Not because of weakness in the arms but more because I can’t put weight on the left foot (toes) all that well yet. Shoulder press on the Smith machine (90deg seated) was good. 10kg, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, so 4 sets of 12, 12, 10, 10 reps each was respectable. Thank God Mr. Chubby still has wide shoulders.

So all in all I think we are on the right track! Thanks for your support and keep your donations coming! No matter how small, we make a tiny little difference in these peoples lives or we make none.
